Surreal Montage

The reason why i chose this theme for my project was because; i always
had the imagination of walking on water. The scanned object that i used was a feather , it might not be noticable but it's floating on the water, the scenry (Backround) i got was off the internet. I then got pictures of me walking and put them as if i was walking on water. The whole concept of this picture is that walking on water is impossible and that's what supports the picture to be surreal.

Color Theory Photo Walk!

I prefer simplicity, i enjoyed photographing the tertiary colors and
pink is one of them. Blue , which is from the primary colors has a
great value among other colors, stands out from between grass.

Surrealist Photo montage idea:

I've always wanted to walk on water so i thought of makng my photo montage look like that ,My idea for this project was to have a person walk on water , and of course the scenery is going to be a scene of nature , the scanned object will be feathers , they'll also be in the backround.

  •  Max Ernst  Born on (2 April 1891 – 1 April 1976) he  was a German painter , Sculptor and graphic artist. Max ernst was one of the painters to have taken a real part in the pormation of surrealism. Ernst was always inspired with imagination , he was filled of  ferocity and humor, his imagination would always take him to that point that he would sleep walk and as a young child he had seen   in the pattern of a mahogany panel in his bedroom 'a huge bird's head with thick black hair'.
  • Artist’s Name: Max Ernst
  • Title Of Work:  At the Rendezvous of Friends
  • Date of Work: 1922

Comparison:  Georges Malkines picture  is more creative than Max Ernsts one , in my opinion , Malkines picture came out much better than Max.  the colors are indeed standing out more in the first picture but the picture is very hard to understand which can let the viewer very bored and also very confused. The opposite happens in Malkines picture as u can predict what;s going on in the picture , you  can conclude that the fish are simillar to the eyes or maybe the lady looking at the fish tank trying to find her eyes.

  •  Description: Different of kinds of friends  meeting together at one place and each one of them is different form the other , max ernst wanted to show some imagination in this picture  which showed the Litterature group after the dissolution of Dada.
  • Analysis: This picture contains a lot of dark effects. This can also be compared to a leading line, because as you look at one person , your eye catches the person next. The Black backround made all these people stand out with what their wearing .
  •  Interpretation: This images interpretation is that once you see it for the first time you will think that I has no meaning, but if you look carefully , you’ll realize that it has a lot to tell. Also, your eye keeps on looking at each and every character in the picture; trying to fugure out what it means.
Judgement: Honestly, this picture is hard to understand. But when I started to take my time looking at it I realized that it was very interesting and that it had a lot of things going on in the picture, I wont say that it was of his best artwork pieces but also not the worst, this picture sure does have a lot to tell, you can tell that there is a lot of imagination going on. The colors used in the picture is what I like the most.

  • Georges  Malkine  born on  (October 10, 1898 – March 22, 1970) , he was the only visual artist named by Andre  Breton. He “performed acts of absolute surrealism."[
  • Artists Name : Georges Malkine
  • Title of Work : Sirènes
  • Date of Work : 1925
  • Description:    In this pi cture , it is very obvious that the eyes that are swimming in the water are fish, the different colors of the eyes makes it look really good and you can also notice the sea-horse that’s in the fish tank too. The dark and light values used go perfectly with the colors.
  • Analysis: This piece of artwork is well organized, as when you look at the picture you’ll notice the dark and light areas and also the balance between them. There is no special afeect as this looks like a painting.
  • Interpretation : To me this piece of art is very creative , the idea that Malkine came up with was unique. A few only would come up with the idea of turning fish into eyes. This picture definitely means something but very hard to tell, maybe the lady has no eyes and is trying to look for them. It does indeed need  to be explained.
  • Judgment: In my oppinion, this picture is very successful , and that it is very mysterious. The colors used in this picture are very good and as you see the light blance with the lights and darks it goes perfectly with the scene of the picture.
